Canadian musician and songwriter Arnold Shoichet has created an extensive repertoire of original songs. His writing explores a wide range of ideas and musical styles, and reflects his love of harmony and rhythm, and his reverence for simple language. He also brings to the songwriter's art an uncommon perspective, having spent much of his adult life as a small town family doctor, intimate with the joys and hardships of many lives. For an artist, such experience is inevitable inspiration. His lyrics are infused with gentle insight and humour, and uncover in every personal tale the universal humanity we share. Adding to this touch, his appealing melodies and his deft skill on piano and guitar make for an enchanting performance.

As a child, Arnold studied classical piano, and discovered the delight of making up his own tunes. He went on to write and direct musicals and comedy reviews for high school, camp, and university. As an adult and father of four, he organized and directed choirs in the public schools and community. He has performed both as a solo artist and with other musicians in a variety of venues, including the annual Mission Folk Music Festival, and with The Dreamers on the television series The Beachcombers. In the summer of 2005 he released his first recorded collection of songs, Such A Good Time. He continues to find time for songwriting.

Arnold grew up and went to medical school in Toronto. Soon after completing his studies he moved to rural British Columbia, where he and his wife Ann brought up their children to realize a love of the land and an appreciation for the arts and for learning. In the practice of medicine, his greatest passion is obstetrics. He has been the doctor at over a thousand births, and serves as a clinical instructor in the Division of Midwifery in the University of British Columbia Faculty of Medicine, teaching midwifery and medical students.
